Pegasys offers a new and innovative approach to the automated gaging needs of manufacturers. No longer are expensive fixed gages with a limited useful life necessary. Pegasys is a rugged, fully automatic, high speed CMM gaging system which provides accurate, quantitative data right on the plant floor. Pegasys never becomes obsolete because it is simply re-programmed when parts change or new products are introduced. Operators simply place the part in the holding fixture, pick the part checking program on the Windows PC, and walk away while the machine does the rest. And, additional parts can be loaded into other holding fixtures and placed in the check queue while it is already gaging a part.
Criterion has recently been performing basic refurbishment work for a major furniture supplier who has done all of their gaging on Pegasys machines for the last decade. (See CMM gaging article). Most of these machines have functioned for over 2 and 3 product life cycles, up to 15 years without any more than the original purchase price, additional holding fixtures, and reprogramming for product additions and changes. Hundreds of parts and up to $2B per year in product sales gaged on Pegasys machines saved well over half the cost of attribute gages, while providing better data. Criterion (formerly CNC Engineering) also can offer turn key CNC compensation systems which utilize the Pegasys CMM Gaging measurements at the production machining center to automatically generate CNC machine G-code adjustments based on the component incoming and/or outgoing gage measurements.
Numerous parts are gaged daily on our flexible plant floor CMM gaging machines that end up on vehicles for the Big 3, most transplants, Tier suppliers, as well as the furniture and appliance industries.
